    Arrival

    Akwaaba! Welcome: The Adventure Begins

    Touch down at Accra International Airport (ACC) and feel the warm embrace of West Africa. Your adventure guide and driver will meet you in arrivals with a traditional “Akwaaba!” (Welcome!) and transfer you to your hotel in Accra.
    Take time to settle in, shake off the journey, and prepare for the action-packed days ahead.
    In the evening, join your guide for Welcome briefing and dinner at the hotel restaurant. Review the itinerary, and get essential tips for the adventure. Your guide will check everyone’s fitness levels and answer any last-minute questions.

    02

    Accra - Shai Hills - Akosombo

    Savanna Wildlife & Mighty Volta

    Check out and depart Accra after breakfast and drive northeast toward Shai Hills Resource Reserve. Arrive at Shai Hills, a stunning landscape of dramatic rocky outcrops, savanna grassland, and wildlife.
    Explore this scenic reserve known for its rocky landscapes, savanna plains, and rich wildlife. Spot baboons, antelopes, zebras, and diverse birdlife, and enjoy a short hike to the historic ancestral caves of the Shai people.
    Continue to Akosombo for lunch at a local restaurant.
    After lunch arrive at your riverside lodge overlooking the Volta River and the edge of Lake Volta; the largest man-made lake in the world by surface area.
    After check-in, proceed for an idyllic boat cruise on the Volta River before sunset. Cruise past picturesque hamlets and villages huddling on the banks of this great river which traverses all of Ghana.
    Return to the hotel for relaxation by the pool or on the riverbanks.

    03

    Mount Afadja & Wli Falls

    Ghana’s Highest Peak & Tallest Waterfalls – In One Epic Day

    This is one of the most physically demanding days of the trip, and one of the most rewarding. You'll conquer Ghana's highest mountain and swim beneath West Africa's tallest waterfall.
    Depart early with packed breakfast into the stunning Volta Region; misty mountain, lush forests, and winding roads. Arrive at Liate Wote Village, the gateway to Mount Afadjato – Ghana’s highest point of about 885 (2,904 ft) where we will meet our local community guide and begin the ascent. At the summit experience the breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views over the Volta mountains, into Togo and across mist filled valleys. Photos are mandatory!
    Descend, rest and rehydrate with cold drinks and fresh coconut water.
    Drive for about 20min to Wli Village.
    Lunch at a local spot.
    After continue to the Wli Waterfalls (Agumatsa Falls), West Africa’s tallest waterfalls at approximately 80meters. Go on hike through the tropical forest, crossing streams and bridges. Arrive at the lower falls, a thundering cascade plunging into a crystal-clear pool surrounded by the forest covered cliffs. Swim beneath the falls, feel the spray, and let the cool water wash away the climb.
    Return to Akosombo to your hotel

    04

    Akosombo - Kumasi

    Road trip to the Ashanti Kingdom

    Today you trade mountains for a scenic drive to the cultural heartland of the Ashanti Kingdom
    After breakfast, check-out from your hotel driving toward Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region. The journey will take us through the Eastern Region, rolling hills cocoa plantations, small villages and lush forest.
    Stops will be made for restrooms and to grab fresh coconut or snacks.
    Arrive in Kumasi and visit the Manhyia Palace; the seat of the Ashanti king (the Asantehene). Learn about the Golden Stool, the sacred symbol of Ashanti unity, and the kingdom's fascinating history of resistance against British colonialism.
    Check-in to your hotel
    Rest of day is free for relaxation to prepare for the next day journey to the Northern Region.

    05

    Kumasi - Boabeng Fiema - Mole National Park

    The Great Northern Journey

    Today is an epic travel day, but an exciting one. You're heading deep into northern Ghana, where the landscape transforms dramatically and elephants roam free across the savanna.
    Check out early morning after breakfast for your drive to Mole to arrive before dark. Drive north trhough Techiman, Kintampo and into the Northen Region. Watch the landscape transform where lush forest gradually gives way to grasslands, baobab trees, shea plantations and red-earth roads.
    Enroute stop at the twin village of Boabeng-Fiema the population lives together with a large monkey colony. The sacred Mona and Colobus Monkeys. The apes are supposed to be representatives of the god of the river. Both the monkeys and their natural habitat (the tropical forest surrounding the villages) are therefore protected. You take a walk through the village to interact with the animals and the village.
    Lunch at a local restaurant in Kintampo.
    Continue to Mole National Park, Ghana’s largest and most prestigious wildlife reserve covering over 4500 sq km home to the magnificent Savannah Elephant among other animals.
    Depending on time go for an afternoon game drive in an off-road vehicle for an opportunity to see some of the wildlife such as elephants, baboons, warthogs and various types of antelopes.
    Check into Mole Motel or Zaina Lodge (luxury)
    In the evening you can watch elephants and other wildlife come to drink at the watering holes right from your lodge.

    06

    Mole National Park: Full Safari Day

    Walking with Elephants

    This is why you came to Mole. Today is dedicated entirely to safari, on foot and by vehicle. Mole is one of the only places in West Africa where you can walk alongside wild elephants with armed rangers.
    Depart for an early morning sunrise walking safari; the magic hour begins. Led by experienced, armed park rangers you'll walk directly into the bush, tracking elephant herds, antelope, and whatever else the savanna reveals. Take your time to watch the elephants, baboons, monkeys, monitor lizards, bush- bucks, antelopes and several wild animals. Watch different kinds of animals in their natural habitat.
    Return to the lodge for a well-deserved breakfast with a view. Rest during the heat of the day.
    Later visit the Mognori Eco Village the closest community in the park. Have the opportunity to experience the culture of the people living in such close proximity to nature while maintaining their rich culture. The tour will also offer you the opportunity to see how shea butter is processed and also for a boat safari along the river that flows within the park to spot some crocodiles, birds and other wildlife that comes along the river.
    Return to the park for lunch and prepare for your jeep safari game drive. Your ranger-guide will drive you to areas inaccessible on foot seeking out buffalo herds, roan antelopes and other wildlife that were not viewed earlier.
    In the evening enjoy sundowners on the escarpment with some cold drinks, stunning views and wildlife below

    Mole - Larabanga - Tamale

    Ancient Mosques & Northern Culture

    Bid farewell to Mole and head east to Tamale, experiencing the unique culture of northern Ghana along the way.
    After breakfast, check out and drive to Larabanga Village to visit the oldest mosque in West Africa dating to approx. the 13th century. Built in traditional Sudanese architectural style and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
    Depart Larabanga and drive to Tamale.
    Arrive in Tamale for lunch at a local restaurant.
    After lunch explore Tamale by visiting the acclaimed Red Clay Studio, a unique art and architectural space created by renowned Ghanaian artist Ibrahim Mahama. Explore installations that blend history, creativity, and reclaimed materials, offering a thought-provoking experience of contemporary African art.
    If time permits visit the Tamale Central Market and Cultural Centre where leather goods, traditional smocks (fugu) and shea butter can be bought as souvenirs for gifts.

    Instead of a grueling 10+ hour drive south, today you'll enjoy a 1-hour scenic flight from Tamale to Accra, arriving fresh with the entire afternoon free to relax.
    Check-out after breakfast and transfer to Tamale Airport for your flight to Accra.
    Arrive in Accra and transfer to your hotel. Check in and settle into your room.

    Accra City Tour

    History, Culture & The Rhythm Of Ghana's Capital

    After breakfast, embark on a full-day exploration of Accra; a city where colonial history meets modern African energy. A visit to the National Museum of Ghana and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. We will experience Ghana’s rich history and the events to the independence of Ghana, a celebration to the prominent Ghanaian President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Visit the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre for Pan-African Culture. The home and final resting place of Du Bois.
    Lunch
    After lunch, proceed to the National Centre for Arts and Crafts which has a varied collection of Ghanaian hand-crafted items on sale. Proceed to meet your drumming instructor for drumming lessons. Try your hands at drumming and learning the steps to some popular traditional dance. After that, you will have the opportunity to try your bargaining skills to shop in an open-air market.

    Cape Coast Day Trip: Kakum & Castle

    Rainforest Heights & History’s Depths

    Today is a power-packed day trip from Accra, combining two of Ghana's most iconic experiences, the Kakum Canopy Walkway and Cape Coast Castle.
    Depart Accra early after breakfast to the coast. Arrive at Kakum National Park. Go on a walk of the “Kuntan Trail” with its countless trees with medicinal properties. For the young at heart walk across seven swaying bridges the “Canopy Walkway” suspended 100 feet from the forest ground for a spectacular view across the treetops. Perfect photo opportunities.
    Depart Kakum for Cape Coast. Arrive and have lunch by the beachside at a local restaurant.
    After lunch visit the Cape Coast Castle Dungeons, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. One of the largest slave-trading posts in West Africa. Walk through the male and female dungeons, see the condemned cell and stand at the “Door of No Return”
    Depart Cape Coast for Accra and transfer to your hotel for the evening.

    · Visit the Artist Alliance Gallery or go shopping at the Arts and Craft Market.
    · Cooking class to learn to make Ghanaian dishes (add-on and must be arranged in advance)
    In the evening get picked up for your farewell dinner at a stylish Accra restaurant, celebrating the journey with your guide and fellow travelers.

    Until We Meet Again: (Nante yie!) Safe Travels

    Leisurely breakfast at the hotel. Final packing and check out (standard time: 11am; late checkout maybe arranged). Depending on your flight time you may have time for last-minute shopping, relaxing at the hotel until transfer. Private transfer to the airport for your final departure.
