ARRIVAL
Arrive at Accra airport. Akwaaba! Welcome to Ghana. Meet, greet and transfer to your hotel. Settle in, brief orientation and check-into your hotel Welcome dinner.

ACCRA CITY TOUR
On this day, we explore the capital city’s most vibrant market in West Africa at the Makola Market, a drive through Old Accra also called Jamestown and a visit to WEB DuBois Centre. The group will visit Black Star Gate, the second-largest independence square in the world, and Memorial Park. We will experience Ghana’s rich history and the events to the independence of Ghana, a celebration to the prominent Ghanaian President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. After lunch visit the National Centre for Arts and Crafts has a varied collection of Ghanaian hand-crafted items on sale. Here you will have the opportunity to try your bargaining skills to shop in an open-air market. Shop for family and friends back home.

AFROCHELLA DAY

Depart to Aburi Botanical Gardens established in 1890 as a convalescent for the British Colonial officers governing the then Gold Coast now Ghana and relax under the shade of huge trees, some of which are over hundred years old. The Aburi Botanical Gardens were designed for Scientific Research and Pleasure.  It is a habitat for plants from all over the world. Over the years, the Garden has cultured a variety of tropical plants, which attract many birds and butterflies. Depart later in the day to join thousands of people in the celebration of Afrochella. Experience the diverse culture and the vibrant work of African creatives and entrepreneurs. Enjoy great music and food stands all around. Meet and interact with friends with series of activities to do. Return to hotel

COOKING LESSONS / CHOCOLATE TASTING
Transfer to a Ghanaian home or a Kitchen facility where you will be immersed and thought by your chef how to prepare a number of Ghanaian tradition dishes, from Jollof rice (rice cooked in red tomatoes sauce), Red Red  (Beans Stew with fried plantains) and among others. Start by learning the various Ghanaian ingredients and spices for most local dishes and special mix of ingredients that gives the Ghanaian Jollof and most meals its distinct flavor. Try your hands in preparing these dishes and enjoy your meal. Visit a Ghanaian women-owned chocolate factory. You will be taken through a group knowledge game, an information session on how to make chocolate from the cocoa bean to the bar, and an opportunity to taste 6 different flavors of chocolate. At the end all participants will leave with one box of Adinkra chocolate containing all six unique flavours. Evening: Transfer to Afrochella Day 2 event

ACCRA - ASSIN MANSO – CAPE CAOST CASTLE
After breakfast depart early morning to Cape Coast. Drive through the forest and several farming villages. Stop en route to visit Assin Manso, burial site of the remains of the two ancestors exhumed from New York’s Wall Street and Jamaica Kingston and re-interred on the Emancipation Day 1998. Visit the “Slave River” where enslaved Africans were allowed to have their bath in preparation for auction at the nearby slave market. Continue to Cape Coast. Visit the Cape Coast Castle which was originally started by the Swedes in 1652. It served as the headquarters and seat of the British colonial government until 1877. Go on a comprehensive tour of the Castle, the Slave Dungeons and the West African Heritage Museum. The guide will conduct you to the slave quarters and Negotiation Hall where our ancestors were bargained for and sold. Check into your hotel

NAMING CEREMONY / KAKUM NATIONAL PARK - ACCRA
Visit the Palace/home of a Chief and Participate in a traditional Ghanaian naming ceremony. Participants will be given Ghanaian names with attributes. It would be interesting to compare your given attributes with who you are today. Depart to Kakum National Park. Go on a morning walk of the “Kuntan Trail” with its countless trees with medicinal properties. For the young at heart experience the “Canopy Walkway” suspended 100 feet from the forest ground for a panoramic view of the flora and fauna of the remaining vestiges of the rainforest. themselves. Continue after to Accra. Arrive in Accra and check into your hotel. Evening free to join thousands of Ghanaians at the Accra Sports Stadium for a watchnight service to usher in the New Year or continue to a NYE Celebration Party (Event TBA)

CRUISE & BOAT PARTY
Depart Accra to Akosombo to join the scheduled cruise on board the Dodi Princess cruise and enjoy music and barbeque as you glide pass the scenic villages on the banks of one of the largest man-made lakes in the world to the Dodi Island. Return to Accra Rest of day free to explore Accra on your own.
